I may not be totally back to weekly sewing, but I have started sewing again and I'm pretty proud of myself for it. Mostly I'm just sewing for Baby, I hope to eventually branch out.
Today I'm reviewing Simplicity pattern 9515

View 6 and 7, I made these around the same time as my last post https://www.madsencreations.com/post/purl-jumpsuit-pattern-review
As with the Purl Jumper I didn't take any progress pictures, I just tried to sew as quickly as I could during Baby's naps.

I used a purple minky I had laying around about 1yd of it.

This was just a leftover from some other long ago project (don'task what it was, cause I can'tremember.) The pattern has a hood and mittens, but I cut them off and just biased the edges.
It's a pretty straight forward pattern six pieces total with a raglan sleeve. I attached the sleeves to the front and back, then sewed up the sides. After that I sewed the front stopping at the notch. I inserted the zipper, then attached the bottom closing everything up.

The sleep sack is a size 6 months so it's a little big on my 5 month old, but she still looks so cute in it!!! I really love this pattern because its so easy, definitely good for beginners provided you know how to install a zipper.

Okay so this presented it's own challenge as I had the unfortunate luck of working on it right after Joann's went under (😭 RIP) so I had no bias tape, and no fabric from which to make my own bias tape. So this one's kinda hobbled together.

I used a piece of flannel about a yard long with a big chunk missing from it. I ended up cutting off the feet, and used this stretchy fleece (same kind from Purl Jumper, different color) as cuff at the ankle and wrists.

The pattern has you do it this way with the facing on top and binding on the bottom. Were I to do it again, I would do one or the other. Since I could not get binding I ended up using the same stretchy stuff as a binding, you can see it looks kinda janky 😬
You make also recognize these snaps from my Purl Jumper post. I don't really like them, but I have so many I'm going to uses them. If sewing snaps aren't your thing you can always swap them out for snap tape which can be sewn with a machine or buttons if you don't mind making a bunch of button holes!

And here she is wearing it!!! Still a little big but she's a growing! I hope thos inspires all the mom's with newborns to just go for it, even if it isn't perfect, you're doing great! To everyone else, A Happy Sewing to you as well, enjoy and keep sewing!
I rate this pattern easy and good for beginners! If you have it laying around or come across something similar don't be afraid to give it a try!
