Mi Muñeca

With Mother's Day around the corner and my little one turning 5 months I had the idea to buy her a little mexican dress, so she could look like a little doll.

Well those are a lot harder to come by then you'd think and so pricey I decided to make one myself. First step was to buy the fabric, which I quickly discovered is impossible to come by 😵‍💫

I managed to find a seller on Etsy, the down side is the fabric is only a 30in width so I bought 2yrds and used ever single scrap lol

Here's the link For those interested https://www.etsy.com/listing/647884088/mexican-fabric-by-the-yard-mexican he has a variety of colors and patterns to choose from.

I decided to use McCall's 6853 again as my base (because I freaking love this pattern!)

View B:

This time I opted for pattern B which is exactly the same as A but with a different sleeve, the sleeve I wanted.

I did alter the dress a little, again I skipped the collar, I also cut the bodice in half to create a yoke, and altered the neckline.

The bottom half of the bodice I added to and lengthend to match the skirt, then gathered all that in to fit the yoke.

I added 3 in to the hem of the sleeve, then did a rolled hem casing for the elastic. That gave me those puffy sleeves.

I also opted for a thin rolled hem.

I did the back the same as the dress from my last post Easter Dress, using more of those Purl Jumper snaps. (They're not very good, but I bought them and I will not let that money go to waste. )

View A:

Because its summer I decided to go with the view A bloomers again, and made my own bias tape once again. This ate up the last of my yardage, no scraps left over.

And here she is looking like one of those Mexican rag dolls (my Nana brought me back one from México once)

And here we are all together celebrating Mother's Day. I was originally gonna wear a red dress, but I can't quite fit back into it. I opted for yellow instead, and to my surprise my mother also showed up in yellow! It was a fun coincidence!

I hope this inspires you to get sewing as well! And a happy Belated Mother's Day to all you Mothers out there! You're doing great, I see you!
