Day 5: Disney's Animal Kingdom, we did get up early today, we wanted to hit the park first thing!
Today's Bounding outfit, Russell from Up! The yellow shirt and orange bandanna I had, I paired these with some black Bermuda shorts, and bought a yellow(ish) hat from target. Once again I wore my Payless slip resistant canvas shoes. I wore the Voogueme frames because between the hat and the mask there's very little space, and these are the smaller of the two frames I brought along. This turned out to be the perfect place to wear it as the park was full of Wilderness Explorers, like myself.
Honestly this park reminds me so much of the San Diego zoo, you know if the zoo rides. The entry way, the graphics this first plart is very similar.
We decided to start off in Africa, which took us to the village of Harambe.
We started off by taking a safari, Imagine the Jungle Cruise, only the animals are very real. I've done the Safari at the San Diego safari park, and I'd say they're about the same. The biggest difference is Disney puts you in a faux rickety van, so you get that African experience.
Next we went shopping, I noticed that you could by a scavenger hunt, I love scavenger hunts and my niece wanted to play too. It took is longer than expected to run around the town of Harambe, but we succeeded!
Next we hopped the train and took a ride out to Rafiki's Island, where they used to have a letting zoo ( now you just look at the animals) And they're animal care center you can peep in.
As we were leaving they were just bringing Willy the Aardvark out. He was much bigger, and much cuter than I expected.
We took the train back to Africa, and walked down to Discovery Island where we went inside the tree of life for the It's Tough to be a Bug 3D experience. I wish someone had warned their would be a part of the show where Giant Black Widows fall from the ceiling. It took everything thing I had not to scream and run away, needless to say, I didn't care for this one.
From Discovery Island we entered Pandora.
You litterally have to climb a mountain to get to this ride. But the ride itself is pretty cool, you ride one of those big Banshee bird things from the Avatar movie, and it feels very real.
The boat ride was next, you know the big tree in the movie with all the glowing lights, that's basically it. And one of those aliens are at the end singing.
After this we went home, had lunch and took a nap, before returning to the park.
This time we headed for Dinoland first.
This ride was so much fun we did it twice! Think Indiana Jones, only with Dinosaurs jumping out of the dark trying to eat you. Easily my favorite ride in the whole park!
Then we went to Dino-Rama! I'd read about this place and was excited to see it in person. It's really just a Dinosaur Themed Midway. Unfortunately all but one ride was shut down thanks to Corona. It was still fun though, think the Dumbo ride but with Dinosaurs, and an extra knob, so you don't just get to go up and down, but you can also tip forward and back.
Next stop, Asia, my niece wanted to do the Expedition Everest, we walked that way and saw Rafiki out on the water. We made it to the ride, and off we went. Now this one is a real rollercoaster, I hate rollercoasters, especially ones that make you go backwards 🤢 I was feeling ill after this. We met up with my sister, my niece wanted to go again so I took the baby on the water rafting ride.
She'd just gone on it so we did it again, and again with my sister and niece, and then one more time after that. In total baby went 4 times, sister and I went 3 times, niece went twice.
We then went back to Pandora, Sister had been with baby while niece and I did the Banshee ride, so I said we should do it again if there was time. I'd sit with baby, baby and I ate noodles in a restaurant while we waited.
When they were done it was just after 6 and the park was closing, My brother came to pick us up which was nice because man all the walking we'd done 😵
Took our post Disney Pic and headed home. Showers, packing, and naps. Tomorrow we all head home.
