Wow is it November already!??? Little Baby is officially 11 months today 💙 where did the time go!!! ðŸ˜
Today I'm attempting (not succeeding I might add) to make Baby a jumpsuit out of one of Hubby's old T-shirts. I don't have a lot of pictures, mostly because this didn't really turn out the way I wanted it. In retrospect I made a lot of little mistakes, like I should have used a new shirt as the old one had lost a lot of its elasticity and should have accounted for the lack of stretch.

I didn't have any pattern, so I just took some overalls from her closet and traced them out directly onto the t-shirt. Trying to leave at least 1/2 seam allowance.

Right sides together I sewed my side seams first. Then flipped it right side out.

I created a binding from extra t-shirt scraps and sewed that along the crotch right sides together. Repeat on other side.

Then flipped the binding over and topstitched. This is where the snap closures are gonna go.

But first we need to finish the leg openings. I used the sleeves for this, I squared them out along the fold creating these rectangles. Sewed them along the raw edge creating a tube.

This part was tough because I was working in such a small space. Folded my tubes in half creating a cuff. I overlapped my binding creating a leg hole. I pinned the cuff to the leg hole and sewed.
I hemmed my armholes a 1/2 inch.

The front neckline I flipped it over the wrong side 1 inch and sewed down creating a casing, repeat on the back neckline.
I then cut two strings out of leftover t-shirt, strung one through the front casing, one through the back to create straps.

Here she is twinning with Dad! She's 7 months in this pic 'that's how behind I am 😰 you can see how tight it was even then! She only wore this a couple times before growing out, if I were to do it again I'd use a new t-shirt that still had its elasticity. And I'd cut the whole thing fuller. But you live and learn. Anyways I wouldn't call this a fail exactly, but definitely not a win, somewhere in between.
Happy sewing, and I hope your projects come out better than this one did lol.
