Waking up my only hotel complaint was they only give you one thin little blanket. It's cold in Reno, y'all never heard of a comforter? Anyways, we had a slow start hanging out in the hotel and watching movies. We finally all got ready and went to get our afternoon cup of tea.
My sister had found this place called The Laughing CAT so we headed over.
The website site said open, but really it was only open for curbside. We're standing outside and my sister calls, to put in a phone order. He walked out to us and asked if we were the ones calling, he then returned to answer the phone. When he came back he informed us he didn't do drinks, just coffee and tea. He then made some lovely tea suggestions. We ended up purchasing the Irish Breakfast and Earl Grey loose leaf teas. Classic! Unfortunately none of us remembered to bring an infuser so no afternoon tea for us 😞
We were ready for lunch and drove over to the Chick-fil-A which turned out to be a terrifying experience. This was my first time going through a Chick-fil-A drive thru and their were so many cars, in a tiny little parking lot, stressful. We then went to the parking lot of a thrift store called Plato's Closet to eat our food and go shopping!
For those of you who have never heard of Plato's Closet it's a consignment store that only purchases from specific fast fashion brands. As much as I Iove Forever 21 they had very little in stock that interested me. Zoi on the other had bought all the things! Kidding she did have a good time and bought some really nice items. On the way out we noticed another tea shop, finally some tea! Alas no, after calling we ran into the same issue, only loose leaf, no drinks.
We went on our merry way to CVS. Zoi wanted snacks, and we picked up some water. Then we piled back in the car to head for Virginia City!
It was a very windy road, my sister had some massive anxiety do all the curves and turns. We unfortunately saw no wild horses on our drive but it really was beautiful with all the snow. Once again I drove, it was nice, I don't get to drive like that much anymore and didn't realize how much I missed it.
Wow Virginia City, it was covered in Snow! We realized pretty quickly that we'd made an itinerary error. We should have left for Virginia City first thing, then come back to Reno for shopping. We'd got there so late in the day that most of the attractions were ending, and many shops closing up. We were still able to walk around town, and check out some shops. Zoi bought a little stuffed horse she named Mike, and we saw the famous Suicide table who's last three owners committed suicide after losing everything in a poker game, and the 100mile view. Which was incredible, you had to be there to really enjoy.
After things closed up it was back to the car, Zoi and my sister traded seats, that turned out to be for the best. In the back seat she was more comfortable with the drive. We headed back to our room to get ready for dinner.
I just love how adventurous Zoi was this trip. She wanted to try something new so we went for Thai. We found the cutest place taking reservations, we're lucky to have gotten a spot because the place was packed.
We started off with a shared appetizer fried vegan rolls, they're basically like Chinese spring rolls, very similar. My sister and I also finally got our teas, we both had the Chrysanthemum tea, which I've been dying to try and it was delicious! Then our entrees, I had the Drunken Noodles, just the right amount of spicy. Zoi had the Yakisoba Noodles, she didn't care much for the vegetables (kids) but ate all the noodles and chicken. My sister had the Eggplant and Basil, I didn't get a pic but I assure you it was perfect! It's been so long since I had really good Thai food that it hit the spot.
After dinner we had wanted to go for some Boba tea but were so stuffed we decided to save it for the next day. At the hot we watched Criminal Minds, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I had brought some face masks so we all put them on and had a real girls night!
That's pretty much it, see you tomorrow for the conclusion!
What did I wear? I ended up wear my Star Wars sweater paired with the jodphers I'd made for the previous blog post "Hey Benny! SCREW YOU!" I again wore my white waterproof boots, which were perfect for all the snow in Virginia City, and my fleece leopard print jacket I'd received for Christmas. I kept wearing the white frames from voogueme.com as well.
